Quarterline Rd Muskegon, Michigan 49442 Phone: 2317770626 Event Description: University of Michigan Professor of Classical Studies Dr. Celia Schultz will discuss “Ancient Rome and Human Sacrifice” at MCC on Thursday, Jan. 28, as part of the College’s 2015-16 Lecture Series. The talk, which is free and open to the public, begins at 7 p.m. in Stevenson Center Room 1100. Currently at work on a study of sacrifice in Roman society, Schultz has been on the University of Michigan faculty since 2010 after teaching at Johns Hopkins and Yale University. Her primary research and teaching interests are Roman religion and the history and literature of the Roman Republic. She has written two books, co-authored two volumes, and co-edits a monograph series on the subject areas. She received her PhD from Bryn Mawr College in 1999. “How could we not be interested in the how and why of such an atrocity?” said Andy Wible, chair of the MCC Arts and Humanities Department. “I think it is a topic many will find fascinating.” For more information, contact Wible at (231) 777-0626.
