Event Description: Mark your calendars for June 18, 2016 as we join Bike to Work Week's line up of healthy biking events and partner with Taste of Muskegon for a WatchMuskegon kind of day! This is NOT a race, just a casual ride, all levels of riders are encouraged to participate! This fun fundraiser for United Way of the Lakeshore is a healthy way to help your community! Choose from a 25, 50, or 100 mile route, get registered , and start raising pledges. The day begins with everyone heading out in the morning, with the food and festivities of Taste of Muskegon greeting riders on their return to Hackley Park in downtown Muskegon. Participants will receive 10 tickets to use at their favorite Taste of Muskegon vendors! Rest stops along all routes offer water, gatorade, and snacks to keep our riders refreshed and fueled up. Support for riders is available via our SAG vehicles and at the finish area until 5:00 pm; rest stop times will be noted in the rider information packets. About the routes: •The 25 mile is an “out and back” that features a wonderful tour of Ruddiman and Scenic Dr in North Muskegon stopping for a water and snack break at Pioneer Park before heading back to Hackley Park. Be sure to take advantage of the scenic views overlooking Lake Michigan as you head into North Muskegon State Park! •The 50 mile route will take riders north into Whitehall with a turnaround heading south through North Muskegon and west back to Pioneer Park. Riders can expect a few rolling hills along this wonderfully scenic route; most of the hills are easily handled by riders of most skill levels. There are 3 rest stops at 2 locations: Pioneer Park: 12.5/37.5 miles and Whitehall Marina: 25 miles. •The 100 mile route takes riders through a challenging, yet wonderfully scenic figure-8 north through Whitehall, over the rolling hills of Hart, and back to Muskegon. Each rider should know that there are a few very challenging hills north of Whitehall and should not be taken lightly. For the riders who have been training for this century ride, the hills will be challenging but by no means insurmountable. You can do it! There are 5 rest stops at 3 locations: Pioneer Park: 12.5/85.5 miles; Whitehall Marina: 25/75 miles; Silver Lake State Park: 50 miles.
