But the women who helped create those characters and the movies that featured them have often gone as unrecognized as Cinderella at the prince’s ball. Join author/historian Mindy Johnson for a vibrant and colorful presentation as she changes this scenario and introduces audiences to the remarkable women whose pencils, pens & brushes redefined Disney Animation and beyond. An all-ages event / children 8 and up Mindy Johnson is a multi-award-winning author, historian, filmmaker and educator. A recipient of the June Foray "Annie" Award for her significant contributions to the Animation industry, Mindy is also an Academy Film Scholar with the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences - the first woman to receive this award for animation. Mindy is the author of several game-changing books including her landmark volume Ink & Paint the Women of Walt Disney's Animation and her forthcoming book The "Only" Woman Animator - Women at the Dawn of an Industry (2026). Johnson is a frequent speaker/presenter, and has appeared in/produced a number of documentaries and short subject films. Appraisers from DuMouchelles Auction House in Detroit will be on hand at the Muskegon Museum of Art to evaluate fine art, antiques, and other collectibles. DuMouchelles appraisers combine decades of professional experience in many areas and have regularly appeared on Antiques Roadshow.
Limited to TWO tickets (ONE item may be reviewed per ticket) per person.
Spots are by timed advance ticket sale only.
Tickets are limited; early reservations are encouraged.

10-minute verbal evaluation for ONE item.

This informal five-week workshop connects you, the caregiver, with a variety of community experts while your little one explores our play space.
