Event Description: Climb a lighthouse! Breathtaking beach and forest views await you at the top of our three spiral staircase, iron-clad tower. History docents onsite will guide you up 54 steps to the lantern room, past porthole views and historic images of the shoreline and old Lake Michigan Beach Park. Learn about Muskegon’s maritime past as you climb to the top of one of America’s castles. Tours offered weekly on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. See our website for pricing and special events. Sturdy shoes recommended and visitors must be three foot tall to climb.

Directions:
Physical address: 1431 Beach Street Street, Muskegon, Mi 49441. Park at Pere Marquette Beach, and walk towards the Coast Guard station. The lighthouse is accessible through a visitor pathway between the Coast Guard and the NOAA stations. When you see the blue, NOAA sign on the left, and the Coast Guard on the right, walk towards the pier. The Pierhead Lighthouse is visible along the walkway, and it only takes a few minutes to get to the light from nearby parking. The Breakwater Light on the same shore is also owned by the MLC, but is not currently open to the public, although visitors can walk to the tower.
